In
creating individual commissions, Deborah explores with the patron
her or his vision of the piece as it relates to the individual
or someone beloved. For example, she was asked to create a collage
for a patron’s home that reflected the woman’s life.
While sitting with this strikingly pretty woman, Deborah began
visualizing her as a queen. In speaking with her, Deborah discovered
her client had strong spiritual beliefs, loved children and flowers,
and had an affinity for hearts. The resulting house collage was
aptly named “The Queen of Hearts” and was constructed
with gold Godiva chocolate paper to reflect the image of richness
and refined taste.
Based
on the wonderfully romantic Frank Sinatra song, another painting
entitled “Fly Me To The Moon ” was created specifically
as a wedding present for a young couple. One can imagine these
twenty-somethings slow dancing by candlelight to the standards
as they dream of a life together – one that unfolds in an
old-fashioned, postmodern kind of way. Their winged house is set
a flight in the midst of a brilliant cobalt sky with the moon
peeking through the window.
